Kleenex Tissues was a registered trademark by Kimberly-Clark Corporation in USA.
Early 1920s, Kimberly-Clark, a paper manufacturer, was expanding and had developed creped wadding for its 1st ever consumer product, Kotex.

Kleenex facial tissue was 1st introduced in 1924, when a package of 100 sheets sold for 65 cents.
1925, the 1st Kleenex tissue ad appeared in the Ladies Home Journal as the new secret of keeping a pretty skin as used by famous movie star.

Due to feminine hygiene not really welcomed in marketplace, so they change the formula and ingredients. The idea of Kleenex facial tissue was born.
The name Kleenex is likely a combination of the word "cleansing" (shortened to "clean") while the capital "K" and the "ex" ending were adopted from Kotex.
1930s, Kleenex was being marketed with the slogan “Don’t Carry a Cold in Your Pocket” and its use as a disposable handkerchief replacement became predominant
