Towards the end of 2014, I was asked to create two fully-rendered storyboards. I came up with some traditionally inked, digitally colored pieces based on every day moments of silence that relate a character to their environment. The goal was to use similar mediums and techniques to create two very different, quickly communicated emotions.
I used a primary color scheme and loose coloring style for 4:16 AM in order to simulate an old-fashioned screen-printed look. The pastels were important in keeping the cluttered counter and cracked drywall soft and familiar, rather than straying into something dirty and uncomfortable.
Because the first piece of the series was solitary and peaceful, I wanted duality and a sense of conflict in it's counterpart. 2:32 PM was particularly fun to work on because car interiors are a strange favorite of mine.
