For this design, I chose a photograph of mine of downtown Raleigh and typed the word "Night". I then created a new 3d Extrusion from the text. I then changed the angle of the text to match the angle of the picture. From there, I adjusted various angles of color and Extrusion/Inflation material to achieve the effect similar to the tutorial.  I then adjusted the smoothness, angle and parameters of the light to match the background image.
