Palkhor Monastery, Gyantse, Tibet

Standing at the foot of Dzong Hill, Gyantse's Palkhor Monastery lies 230km south of Lhasa.
Founded in 1418 by the 2nd Prince of Gyantse, Rabten Kumsang, Palkhor has 15 monasteries within its confines made up of 3 different sects of Tibetan Buddhist monks; Gulupa, Sakyapa and Kahdampa.
Palkhor is famous for its Stupa (Kumbum in Tibetan). With its 9 tiers and at a height of 32m/105ft, 77 chapels display several thousand Buddhist figures.
