When I started to learn how to skate this past summer, I realized that not a lot of girls had the courage to grab a board and learn. Upon researching organizations that promote females in skateboarding, I found Skate Like A Girl, located in San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. Their mission is as follows:
"Skate Like a Girl is a grassroots organization empowering girls and women through the vehicle of skateboard-related programs. The organization is committed to be all-inclusive, with an emphasis on diversity, and serving girls and women of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds. We strive to build community coalitions with organizations that are working to challenge discrimination and oppression through education and dialogue to create better communities for everyone."
Inspired by their mission, I developed an unofficial campaign to promote their success. Below is a promotional poster, skateboard deck design, and sticker.
Ideally, a percentage of the proceeds of this deck (10 - 20%) would be returned to the organization.
