Aurora Borealis – Lofoten, Norway

AURORA BOREALIS
– Lofoten, Norway –
Three days of our four day trip around the Lofoten have been passed. Three days that challenged the common misconception that you just have to head up North and implicitly will be able to witness the spectacle of Northern Lights. Three days of thick clouds and rain during day and night that proofed it wrong. It was our last night and finally the sky, which depicted itself during the daylight (if you can speak of such when this ranges from 9.30 to 13.30) in the same fashion as the days before, tore slightly up in the evening.

A pre-dinnerly quick shot at the lake where we resided revealed what may come up this night. A slight green shimmer shined up on the camera screen. And it should end up being the right prediction. A few hours later the massive dancing lights in the sky started off an incredible show that left us deeply impressed with eyes and mouth wide open.

Shot at different locations at Vestvågøya.
Pictures are in chronological order.
Exposure: between 15-30sec. (sadly a bit too long – around 15 seems best)
Aperture: f2.8 - f6.8
