MoMA Design Store

Oversaw complete redesign of MoMAstore.org, working closely with MoMA's key stakeholders from the entire museum including e-commerce, design, membership, the physical store and curation including the museum's acclaimed Senior Curator of Architecture and Design, Paola Antonelli.

HUGE provided the museum this site for a song. I came up with a lean, focused budget and managed to it while still providing MoMA a complete site that would meet their needs for design, UX and build for all the key site pages.

“If you’re a designer or design enthusiast, going to MoMA is kind of like going to church,” said Joe Stewart, Executive Creative Director at HUGE. “So it was incredibly important to everyone on the design team here that we treat this particular project with the same care and attention that MoMA gives to the Museum and its retail venues. It was a real privilege and responsibility that everyone took incredibly seriously.”

All items in the store are carefully selected by the museum curators thus the products needed to be treated as design objects, yet also match the museum's new colorful brand personality that reflects approachability. These beautiful product pages allow the design objects to be featured in a friendly, way while the expanding category "+" navigation offers additional opportunities for inspiration along the way.
The redesign included extensive interaction design for various scenarios in checkout including existing and guest accounts, MoMA members who receive discount rates, international and multiple address shipping.
