The name of the lady in the image is Meliha Varesanovic and she was unaware that this photograph of her was being taken as she was walking down a street in warzone in Sarajevo. I have always admired women who remain strong during difficult times so I fell in love with her strength and grace and I wanted to capture that by designing a look that would be strong but feminine.

I began by draping a recycled shower curtain and adding a detail at the hip that resembles a gathering detail Meliha had on her dress in the photograph 

When I finished the dress, I decided to add a recycled acrylic prisms necklace designed by my friend Adewumni and I placed it at the shoulder where it functions as the closure for the the top of the dress and this the final result
