"A Year in Ink: Anthology Release Party" Poster

Art342A | Typography 2 | Spring 2014
A client from The San Diego Writer's Ink wanted posters made for their spring anthology release party. Each student was asked to choose a poem being presented at the event, highlight an important word from said poem, and make a poster that displayed the poem and the highlighted word cohesively. The client then picked five posters from the class of twenty-five to be displayed at the event (mine being one of them).
The finished type treatment highlights the word "redwoods" in Rockwell.
The finalized 13" by 19" poster. The arrangement of the poem is meant to represent a redwood tree. The placement of said "tree" on the right hand side is a symbolic reference to the speaker in the poem, who is gazing of into the distance at the "Big Sur fog".
The poster being showed at the SDSU Spring Show/Open House. Sadly I do not have photographs of the poster being displayed at the anthology release party itself...
