I was hired to design a custom playing card deck by Arlington Printing Company! I was honored to design a whole deck of authentic "Bicycle" brand palying card. I had a pleasure to name the deck as "Ultimate Universe" playing cards.

A conceptual expansion on the four symbols of Oriental mythology, Ultimate Universe takes star-born legends to new heights. Elements of 2D pixel art infused with striking color schemes make for a visual experience that is both complex and fun. Mythology and technology coalesce beautifully in Ultimate Universe.

Inspiration: Playing card has 4 symbols and I associated with 4 kings in oriental mythology. They were believed to rule each of the 4 directions of the world. I gave each symbol a color, and animal theme. For example, the West king is the Heart suit and the color theme is orange and the animal theme is tiger. Now go back look at the character designs again and see what theme each suit symbol is based on.
