The Florida Shape Off
More than a design job, it is an adventure!
The 1st event of the Florida Shape Off, a contest featuring talented surf board, will always be dear to my heart.  I still remember the Tuesday, the week of Thanksgiving 2007, when Paul Eaton, creator of the event and one of my best friends, came up to me and said, "I got an idea..." and then told me about wanting to hold a surfboard shaping contest at one of the largest industry events, the Surf Expo. Mind you, I was expecting dinner discussion for the upcoming feast.  The Surf Expo takes place in mid January. In all reality, and with Christmas holidays in between, we had roughly 4 weeks to pull together both the creative, physical, and logistically. To this day, I am amazed of how it basically all fell into piece, not saying that we didn't hit a few snags along the way.  And one unexpected surprise was having one of the legends in the industry, Greg Noll, give away the trophy.

With the 5th Annual Shape Off coming up, a sort of a milestone has been accomplished. We went from obscurity to having the red carpet rolled out in front. Last year, the Surf Expo build for us a customized shaping booth and threw in a free booth to the winner for next year's expo.

Visit the Florida Shape Off website for more about the event and to view examples of my graphic and web design work.
