I took a walk on the quiet boardwalk on the second anniversary after Hurricane Sandy visited the Brooklyn shore town. Coney Island's main attractions are closed for the winter break, but the serenity and warmth of the scene struck me as I walked and thought about the images that I saw after the storm.

 

This was only my second time on the Coney Island boardwalk. I have never been during the festive summer season, so this is how I know Coney Island as an attraction. I can feel the life and joy and eclecticism of the community, its visitors, its vendors its employees and its breeze.

 

These images are an ode to that feeling.
