Spot Illustrations

For this project I was commissioned by my teacher to base three spot illustrations about an article he provided. The article is called "Sociology in Fantasia"; the author mentions on multiple occasions the top reasons for playing online games are achievement, social interaction and immersion. It was a perfect find with enough imagery and it was also a list of three, one for each illustration. I took a page out of Keith Haring's book for these illustrations, I like his linework and use use of color and his expressionistic figures. Adding to the inked linework I did (coming soon to this project) another requirement was a texture of some sort. Further adding to the video game theme, I chose a tile image for a pixelated look to tie the pieces together along with the color pallette.

The achievement illustration was a major at 6" x 5" showing that the game character is climbing the charts and heading for the target and his goal. The others were minors at 3" x 5" for social interaction where the characters are huddled around a wi-fi signal and 5" x 3" for immersion which shows a person being sucked into the game world through his television.
