Venom - X is a concept for usage on products such as: apparel/clothing. The requirements are based around a friend who is building his own marketable clothing brand.
Stage one: Gather images and compile a small mood board to inspire the logo sketches. Images gathered are most associated with 'Venom'. Image searches included (w/ synonyms) Venom, Snake, Viper, Cobra, Poison, Toxin, Toxic, Reptile, Basilisk, Germ, Bacteria, Virus etc
Stage Two (Combined with stage one): Note attributes of a snake/reptile and implement the descriptor into the logo shape. In addition generated random word combinations of: Reptile, Snake, Venom, Poison, Serpent, Viper, Toxin & Virus. Select the best five (Seen on the left) and conclude by choosing preferred one.
Stage Three: Sketched out 50 logo concepts. Asked small focus group for favoured logo designs and above the most favored 5 are shown. The sketches are scanned in and modified in Adobe Photoshop to increase contrast which makes the logos more visible once imported into Adobe Illustrator.
Stage Four: Produce Illustrated lettering and Snake (Cobra) vector. Once all letters are completed, the suitability is evaluated. Once all checked they are slowly integrated together.
Stage Five: Reviews logo style & shape with focus group. Once the logo is assessed it is measured to ensure it is suitable for prints and a variety of other applications (e.g. Product Labels/Tags). Thereafter colours needed to be applied. Referring back to stage one (Moodboard) and comparing with UX colour charts; green seemed the most appropriate. A colour swatch was produced to unify all elements later added to the logo.
