An experimental surface developed using scrap wood. It is an exercise demonstrating value addition to mundane objects. The wooden pieces with their natural organic form were chosen from a discarded log. 

 

A trial sample was developed using Akemi epoxy resin. Opaque white epoxy resin was used to bind the wooden pieces together. The resulting surface was very stiff and hard with stone like qualities.

The surface developed can have many applications - screens, wall panels, doors, table-tops, accent pieces in furniture. The epoxy is also available in many other options like transparent, translucent or opaque.

Colour can be added to the epoxy with the help of stainers and a wider range of products can be developed.
