The documentary, Flores, illuminates the daily life of single mother, Nancy, from Bogota, Colombia. Nancy works for a carnation plantation to support her daughter, Sandra, with a rare degenerative disease. The documentary serves as a small glance into the Colombian flower industry and credits one out of thousands of families who use flowers to support the wellbeing of their children and themselves. For my Senior Studio, I had the privilege of working with the director of Flores and designing the poster to advertise the film. After a viewing of the rough cut, I decided that no matter what I made, it needed to be as beautiful as the footage of film I saw, but still highly connotative of a large industry. The final result was two posters and the film's subtitle “A Product of Colombia”.
