   The objectives of the thesis were to design a center that

·         facilitates display of information and handlooms through a display gallery.

·         facilitates demonstration of the process of making of handlooms through a space for demonstration.

·         facilitates conservation of old handlooms through a center for conservation.

·         facilitates promotion of handlooms through retail stores and stalls.

·         provides the visual and spatial experience that reflects the beauty of handlooms.

 

 

The display gallery is one among the many buildings and spaces designed for the center .The floor plan of the gallery is designed  to allow intuitive and easy flow of visitors. Central open to sky spaces in the plan  allow  natural ventilation from all the sides into each display room. The most popular patterns  in the handlooms are incorporated in the form of "Jalis"- perforated screens and stucco works  on the facades.
