A series of icon illustrations done for New Year's promotions on Amazon.co.jp. Many Japanese visit their local Buddhist and Shinto shrines on January 1st, a custom known as hatsumode. The icons were based on traditional hanko stamps used on printed materials given out at shrines. Red and gold are typical celebratory colors for the New Year. The icons were designed to be visible at a small size so they would not overwhelm the sales messaging or products in onsite graphics.
