Hans Christian Andersen - House of Fairytales

Architectural Concept
The concept is to unify the house and the garden into a merge, a magical House of Fairytales and a City Garden Universe, where indoor and outdoor is connected in 3D.
A sculpture not only for the eyes, but a functional sculpture, containing inter connected and flexible spaces.
The House of Fairytales is an architectural and functional sculpture, which you can walk in, walk on, and walk through, and find strong visual relations between indoor and outdoor functions.
A glass steel construction to cover the House of Fairytales will reinforce those strong relations even more and will contribute to an outstanding experience to the visitors all year round, in the day time and in the night time as well.
This greenhouse like construction will support the idea of regarding the House of Fairytale as the green hearth of Odense City due to its unique location and sculptural form.
The House of Fairytales will be a unique and outstanding landmark, which will merge the past and the future in a symbiosis that adds to the context due to its scale and respect of the history and the adjacent old houses and the Andersen Corner, where he was born, and it shows great respect to privacy by down scaling and keeping distance.
The Gateway to the west forms a link between the new and existing buildings in the City and in the House of Fairytales specifically the Roof Garden and the Central Courtyard of the House of Fairytales.
The House of Fairytales is a green house in any sense and is setting new standards for the unification of a building and a garden into a city sculpture, where nothing is what it seems to be. The visitors, children and adults will successively be positive surprised, the deeper they go, the more they will discover and the more they will experience.
Only few materials are going to be used for the project:glass, metal, concrete, wood, built inn lights, natural stone and slates for the pavement.
Keep it simple is the key word for the House of Fairytales.
