Journalistic Graphics

One of my passions is taking a complex concept and making it accessible and easily understood. The following graphics were created during the years I spent at Ball State University, either in class or for the Ball State Daily News.
We picked our own topic for this class project. This was during the height of the exploding lithium-ion battery scare, so I decided to explain how this type of battery worked and why they were having such catastrophic problems.
Access to the Internet is a basic necessity when you're in college so I decided to research current prices as well as the underlying technologies behind cable and DSL Internet access.
Verizon Wireless was in the process of a significant network upgrade in Muncie, Indiana, so a story on cellular technology seemed appropriate.
Wimax, the long-range wireless Internet access technology, was being tested at Ball State. This graphic explains Wimax and compares it to other wireless technologies, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
