Combining the transcendental works of great writers and philosophers, I created an innovative book set embracing environmental reflections. To convey the thoughts of Thoreau, Muir, Leopold and Emerson, I created various tree motifs that represent the simplicity and growth of the natural world and how we coexist within it. Not only is this a literal reflection found in nature, but it also represents the concept of reflecting on life, and embracing simplicity. Taking a new approach on a boxed set of books that are then put into a bag, I created a carrier that has more than just one purpose to serve. It is a lightweight, sustainable design that carries books or additional supplies, that then unfolds to become a picnic surface or a wall hanging of inspiration to the avid environmentalist.
