Adam Parata x Intercom
A case study in using AI while preserving the human touch
Real-life artist Adam Parata was commissioned by AI customer service company Intercom to create illustrations for its new website.
AI was in fact used in this project - not to generate the final pieces, as one might have expected from an AI-based client - but to generate concept imagery for the early briefing stages
Adam then came through the human touch - creating hero illustrations which were irreverent, idiosyncratic, idyllic and visionary all at once.
As stated by Intercom's VP of product design, Emmet Connolly, this approach to AI is "not about replacing humans, it’s about removing drudge work so that humans can do their core job better."
