In August 2023, I had the extraordinary opportunity to document the Golden Jubilee of Lamdon Model School, an event marked by the esteemed presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This project, titled "Yarchos Chenmo," captures the essence of this historic celebration, which brought together 15,000 people, including students, religious devotees of Buddhism, and members of the local community.
The Golden Jubilee was not just a commemoration of the school's 50-year journey but a vibrant display of cultural heritage and intellectual engagement. Students participated in philosophical debates and performed a variety of cultural acts, showcasing their knowledge and quest for wisdom in front of the Dalai Lama. This gathering was a poignant testament to the school's role in fostering education, cultural preservation, and spiritual growth.
Through my lens, I aimed to encapsulate the profound moments of this once-in-a-lifetime event. The photographs reflect the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, the fervent devotion of the attendees, and the palpable sense of community. The presence of the Dalai Lama added an aura of spiritual significance, making the event even more memorable.
