Echelon City - A dystopian world

For this project I wanted to create an environment from a city in a dystopian world, with some hints that there are critical events coming. Blade runner is an obvious inspiration as well brutalist architecture.

Everything, except the characters were modelled in Blender. Shader and textures are also all procedural within Blender, of course some bitmaps were used for posters, papers and cans.

Clay and wireframe
Note that the asphalt object have an displacement texture on it, applied at render time which isn't shown here, hence the hovering trash objects. Its also a lot brighter as the atmospheric shader is disabled.

Geo Nodes

Geo nodes was used for the background buildings. It uses 5 different models, as well with a small range of randomness in its texture color.

Post work

I also gave it a decent touch up post render in After Effects.
Mostly what's been adjusted is the exposure in different parts and adding some more faint glow around appropiate light sources.

Picture on the left is straight out of Blender, while on the right its after I've touched it up in after effects

The layers in AE. Masking is usually done with simple masking with combination of a depth map of the scene

Thanks for watching!
