Creative Strategies
By: Shennaya Hattrick
While experimenting with creative strategies, I decided to explore 6 differnt topics. Those topics are: metaphor, isolation, physical shape similarity, change of context (or environment), combination/juxtaposition, and material change (swap or position).
It was fun coming up with different ideas and creatively stretching my mind to work on this project.
I was to do all of these strategies using a single object of my choice. The object that I chose was a paintbrush.
I wanted to use the phrase "paint the town red", so I decided to represent that in a photo.
Metaphor or similarity
I wanted to experiment with not only using photoshop on this image but to illustrate a little bit. I wanted to show an isolation of painting and showing colour underneith some old paper that I changed to be monochromatic.
Isolation
What better way to show a physical shape similariy of a paintbrish than a pencil. I thought the idea of 'drawing' with a paintbrush instead of a pencil.
Physical shape similarity
I had a thought that paintbrushes are part wood, then it would be ironic to show that paintbrushes grow in the wild.
Change of context or environment
A funny combination of a paintbrush and a praintbrush holder. But this paintbrush holder isn't just a normal holder, it is one made out of paintbrushes!
Combination
Going off of the fact that paintbrushes are part made of wood, I thought to make a tree out of a paintbrushes this time as well.
