New Works Initiative Poster

The "New Works Initiative" is a new play created and written by students every year. It has an emphasis on writing and storytelling with very limited set and costumes. I designed a poster to be a visual testament to the creative process. I used gestural drawings in pencil to simultaneously bring liveliness into the piece and emphasize the importance of the writing in the project. The original artwork is meant to be an homage to the student's ideas and words that brought the play to life. In the center is a figure holding a lightbulb, that symbolizes the special moment an artist is struck by inspiration. I chose a common motif, but stylized it which allowed me to easily communicate my point and still have a dynamic drawing. My poster is uses bold colors and effective imagery to tell the story of these artist's journeys and the power of their imagination.
