Upcycle Shoe Prototype

This product, made for my ACCE 120 class, is made using 100% upcycled materials. The shoes and buttons were bought from a thrift shop, and the fabric and ribbon were sourced from my school's spare fabric and notion resources.
I was inspired by the loafer style of school uniform shoes, and the similarities between pleats on school girl skirts and clown collars. I imagined a shoe that fused the similarities between the two aesthetics, with buttons, pleats, and the childish bow touches.
On the left is my mood board where I collaged the school girl and clown aesthetics that I drew inspiration from.
On the right are my process images for how I made the shoe. I used the lace plate of the air force ones for the back of the prototype. This white leather and my four pleated pieces were attached to the top edge of the loafer.
These are product sketches that I made using photoshop. This is where I adjusted aspects of the final prototype and changes the colors, sole design, and height of the ruffle.
