*this case study focuses on the accessibility of Amazon's website and is not a brand identity redesign*
The Results:
Additional Research:
Accessible Interaction Design:
Not all users are able to use a mouse and keyboard to navigate a site. Additional methods such as keyboard shortcuts or voice commands are often used by those with assistive technologies to navigate web pages. Additionally, users with cognitive disabilities or visual impairments may get lost on the page if the navigation is confusing. A few guidelines to follow to keep navigation accessible include:
- Providing keyboard navigation for all features
- Designing consistent and predictable navigation patterns
- Offering voice commands where possible
- Implementing clear focus indicators for interactive elements
- Providing alternatives to drag-and-drop interactions
Accessibility Information Architecture Design:
Information architecture (IA) is the practice of organizing, structuring,
and labeling content in a way that helps users find information and
complete tasks. It involves:
- Deciding how to organize and maintain content
- Identifying the relationships between content
- Determining how content is displayed in navigation
- Creating a logical navigation structure
- Presenting relevant and contextual information

Visual Design:
Presents information and interface elements in accessible formats for
user perception. This involves offering multimedia alternatives (e.g.,
video text captions) and ensuring adequate visual contrast in design.
