WALKING CYCLES - ANIMATION PROGRESS JOURNAL

MA Graphic Design and Art Direction
Animation - Progress Journal
I mapped out on paper what a walk cycle would look like frame by frame. I made sure to map each leg in a different colour so I could properly frame it in my mind.
I then added clothing and added the first foot smacking on the pavement.
I then added my character's head design so I could practice with the head bobbing along to the beat of the foot hitting the pavement. It's a rough design for now, will polish later on.
I then wanted to extend the legs so I started from scratch and made them longer.
I then readded the pants but made them baggier and green, as this was part of the character's design.
I then overlayed a canvas texture over it so it looked less clear cut
The frames were put in the wrong so the walking cycle looks out of place and janky.
So I went back in and reanimated it so it better with the walking cycle and the mountains movement below
I then wanted to see how it would look with the text added, but I felt it made it look too crowded and the animation needed to breathe.
Final animation:
This is the final outcome, with an overlay of the screen from their Spotify release of the song, with the updated animation. It has been timed to match of the song, making it sound as if the sun is moving to the song.
