Architecture in progress is a collaborative project between Adeline Kristjánsdóttir and Laetitia Techer that works towards improving the way we build by incorporating local techniques and local materials into contemporary architecture.
We intend to develop an architecture that builds faster and efficiently, that is sustainable and ethical, and that is accessible to people of any gender, social, geographical and economical background.
One way to accomplish this, is to develop a pluralistic approach to architecture that recognizes the validity and strength of local (vernacular) construction techniques, and blends western architectural knowledge and materials with those developed by locals.
To be effective, these pluralistic architectural techniques need to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their age, gender, social, climatic and economical background.
