Urban Gardens - Capsule Collection

Balconies full of plants and flowers in Montmartre, Paris, shot during a trip in 2007

This project is born from the discovery and the study of a series of very interesting phenomena present in our cities, that are urban gardens, truck farming, rooftop farming and guerrilla gardening.

These smart hobbies sensitize people to increase green spaces in urban areas and they allow to cultivate natural local products to eat. Everyone is encouraged to create a personal oasis wherever possible. Especially in big cities this is often visible both inside and outside of buildings.
From roof-gardens of skyscrapers to bridges, passing by ex-shopping carts, pick up, graffiti street literally planted on the walls, jars of flowers and climbing plants in front of the windows.
In short, far from the typical gray metropolitan, cities become green and give voice to nature.

Starting from the moodboard, my drawings included flowing and lively lines that I decided to translate into fringes. But how to find the perfect material for this theme without trivializing the accessories? After a long research, I chose natural hair: the resistant horse hairs and the soft goat hairs, glued and assembled in long doubled white cotton strips and then integrated in the seams at the selected points.

For the bag's realization I used soft nappa leather reinforced; all the prototypes are handmade by me.
The chosen colors are purple, red brick and white ice, dusty and elegant nuances that reflect the theme and that give to the bags the appearance of being vegetables themselves.

Urban Gardens capsule collection consists of three pieces: a shoulder bag, a pochette and a backpack.
