Typography Wine Packaging
I am creating a typographic packaging design for wine. Not only to create a design that stands out and sells the product but also to have the packaging be practical. The wine packaging I am designing is for Sogrape's four new wines, Bordeaux Merlot Wine, Porto wine, Barolo wine, and Albarino wine. Each of these wines will have its own designs but fit under the same theme so that they still work together as part of the same brand. These designs are to be directed to the premium or super-premium end of the market, so the designs must reflect this.
Starting off the project I first had to understand Sogrape and find what associations it has to design. As I have researched Sogrape I found they are on a global scale, family-owned, strive to connect people, and are popular. These details about the company have made me associate the Sogrape line with Balanced, bright, warm, sturdy, and strong.

I did this for all wines. I put together all the similarities of each of the concepts using a Venn diagram for each wine. This way I could see what the overarching feeling was of all my ideas per wine. Then I would be able to make smarter design choices. See example below.
I had a base concept for each wine. Knowing the feeling and idea behind each one, the next task was to find a way to fit all of them together so they work under the same theme. Below are some images of my process.
I chose the theme to be the terroir texture, the layout of the text, and the colourful dark colours to lighter neutral colour palettes all across the wine designs. I went through a process of refining a box design, below is the dieline for it.
This box works with a lid function and has a tap sealing it shut. Below are my final designs on the bottle label and on the box, and then the real-life printed finals.
Thank you!
