Short nightmare story

This was a concise project based on the Creative Conscious Awards. One of the prompts was to produce a single-page illustration of a recurring dream. Unfortunately for me, I have a few recurring dreams and they often are nightmares. So, I chose to illustrate the nightmare I have had the most. I am not fully sure of its meaning, yet it is visually striking and thought-provoking.

I start this dream in a corner of a room that is dilapidated, I look around and find myself alone, yet there is a mirror above a fireplace. I look at myself and notice my head is a distorted ball of fuzz. I hear a noise coming from the hallway past the door. I look at my hands to try and notice my physical body and the sensations I feel. When I look up I see my distorted head, but also a lunging mass of similar fuzz with a gaping jaw set with razor-sharp teeth coming towards me, I have no time to react... At this point, I wake up. I've always woken up at this point, never knowing what happens next.
