This is a Chettinad House approx 63 m length. Its width is approx 24 m. We do saw indoor 60m sprint race distance. Many houses runs this long here.
This is a front side capture of a house. Each house will have unique and grand front portions. There are couple of 100s of houses like this. It has been said that Chettiyars are settled/created approx 96 villages in the region.
This is, upper front portion above the entrance of a Chettinad mansion. The designs, carvings, colours, materials, etc., will speak the grandness.

This is first portion after entering to the house, having verandah, thinnai, etc., There marble or burma teak pillars, Belgium mirrors, Italian tiles, exquisite and intricate work filled doors will be usually seen.

Statement of Intent, Week 3: Architecture
Why, have chosen: There are many and great architectural showcases available in Tamilnadu. Chettinad houses or mansions are one. The houses are bigger, lavish, eye catching with paintings [interior as well as exterior], intricate carvings on doors and wooden materials, older, with culture and heritage rich, with great and extensive workmanship.
The audience for my image set are course mentors and team and I intend for the audience to feel the grandeur of the houses built by Chettiyars in Chettinad region of Tamilnadu, India around 1900 AD.
Six documentary style architectural photographs of the century old Chettinad houses rich in heritage are narrated here.
The images were captured at day time from various perspectives in landscape that document including the interior architecture. The images are authentic to achieve documentary approach. Mostly used deeper depth of field to capture complete detail with good composition attempts. Hope, you would get the glimpse of the cultural wonder and get intrigued.
