Kim Min-jae 'Expects the bench' against Dortmund on the 31st

Thomas Tuchel, the coach of Bayern Munich in the German professional football Bundesliga, stressed that he "does not doubt his ability" about Kim Min-jae, an "iron pillar" who has recently been threatened with his starting position.

"Kim Min-jae and Dayo Upamecano have outstanding skills," Tuchel said at an official press conference ahead of the 27th round home game of the 2023-2024 Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday. "We have four center backs who are improving their skills through training. No one doubts the skills of Kim Min-jae and Upamecano."

The reason why Tuchel specifically mentioned Kim Min-jae's name at the official press conference is that Kim Min-jae has been the main center back at the beginning of the season and has recently been out of the starting lineup.

Kim Min-jae missed two games in the last three games, including missing the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 3-0 win against Lazio on the 5th, replacing Mainz in the second half of the 25th round 8-1 win of the Bundesliga on the 9th, and missing the 26th round 5-2 win against Darmstadt on the 17th.

In the midst of this, coach Tuchel directly mentioned Kim Min-jae's name at a press conference and started to evolve the "transfer theory."

Coach Tuchel said, "We made a change by playing a difficult game in the aftermath of Upamecano's injury," adding, "Dear and Diricht did well."

Coach Tuchel explains that Kim Min-jae's trip to the bench is not a matter of skill, but because of Upamecano's situation, he is forced to operate the "Diary-Dericht combination" instead of the "Kim Min-jae-Upamecano combination."

"We are in a healthy competition. Now we are entering a fierce period that we all need," Tuchel said.

Meanwhile, German soccer magazine Kicker predicted Kim Min-jae as a substitute member instead of a starter ahead of the 27th round match between Munich and Dortmund scheduled for 2:30 a.m. on the 31st in Korean time.
