ECOral - Marine Science Research Hub

The goal of this project was to reimagine HEPCA’s Port Ghalib headquarters and create a facility that will assist the organization in achieving its core goal. The facility will also act as a tourism destination for the general public and schools while helping to preserve the Red Sea’s marine life and biodiversity. As proven through site visits, and interviews, a research-based strategy is employed to enhance environmental impacts through passive design solutions. The masterplan design proposal reflects an open, Bedouin-inspired architectural idea to promote ecotourism by establishing spaces surrounded by culture, environment, and hands-on activities. Visitors to the Marine Science Hub will also be able to reflect on the past while imagining the future thanks to this link between the Hub’s historic timeline and its futuristic influence.
