Editorial Design Concept- Recolouring The Past

// RECOLOURING THE PAST //

// EDITORIAL SUPPLEMENT DESIGN CONCEPT //
Student editorial design concept for an article in EYE Magazine about the positive and negatives of film colourisation at a time when image falsification is a very big issue for creatives. This article was chosen by me for its topic about ethics in design practice and how we must be careful with how we use design.
For this editorial design, I chose to work with watercolour inks and photograph them and how the colours and tones interacted with each other on paper. This photography then turned into digital image manipulation to create many different variations on the theme of colourisation.

Holding the design in your hands, you start with a black and white image of watercolour inks on a page heavily focusing on the characteristics of watercolour and the different gradients and effects the technique creates.

As you progress through the article the images become more saturated and digitally themed with the last page opening up to a large full bleed halftone image that is inspired by the large led billboards present in today's world.
