Welcome to the MSD x M.E.R.C © series

A partnership that was longtime coming making my studies once more put into the test. After analyzing and breaking down the key concept of the track I tried to create a basic collage the concept being the idea of evolution 0-100 of the artist (you cannot have a glimpse of true success and happiness unless you have been at the bottom) who has a huge experience when it comes to motor vehicles and bikes to be specific which definitely translates into the art with the idea of speed, acceleration and stability .

The license plate is also a form of identity when it comes to motor vehicles so I used this exact key feature in this design to make something unique for the artist himself expanding the connection between racing and life itself describing the ups and downs of human life in a day to day basis .

The most challenging part was the choice process when it came to isolating images from raw footage that was provided to me by the artist himself I want to thank him for his excellent cooperation / communicative skills, entrusting someone with photographic material describing your whole life story is something that definitely made me get lost in the process trying to balance the gravity of what I was depicting in this cover in correlation with the "environment" I synthesized to position its geometry in the best way cause that is what it came down to in the end (geometrical research and its connection to the effect of light itself not to mention its absence) . This artwork was an amazing opportunity to expand my research when it comes to light exposure and refraction shadows and flow when it comes to how the light reacts and flows with the concept as a whole .

Color study was also a great part since it does not only explore different tints and temperatures that affect the psychological imprint of this mural especially when perceiving its impression from in smaller scales but also exposing possible mistakes that were made on my part when it comes to blending all of the assets together in a storytelling fashion .

When it came to the final export of the art I noticed that since its primary purpose was that of a cover artwork I must not lose my focus and try to maintain all my enthusiasm, when it came to further additions or edits.

That is when my studies of analog helped me, creating a frame of cutout images that emphasize in creating a "vignette" like effect guiding the eye of the observer containing the amount of information that appears in this photo collage .
