Dangerous Dave
A classic retro game developed back in the 80's in which Dave has to collect chiming coins and defeat monsters and ultimately collect the magic key that lets him win to the next level. The eeriness of the game and the liminality translates interestingly when visualized in PS1 Graphics, making the game look even more sinister.
Project brief
The aim was to visualize this 2D retro game into a hypothetical game with PlayStation 1 aesthetics. The assets and environment were studied along with redesigning Dave and other monsters.
Dave has been redesigned with a basic low poly model along with texture painting. He looks nightmarish, paying homage to the actual game character who is stuck in a maze. Displacement modifiers add the jittery edge effect indicative of the graphics of that era.
