TRIPLEX MODEL SHOE
we were tasked with creating a replica model shoe using triplex. for this task we were required to replicate to scale, any shoe of our choosing. The replica was to be constructed strictly out of triplex and was to be left in its raw state with no finishes. Activity 1: Full Model Shoe
The triplex process started off with creating the base of the shoe where then the sole would be built up. This would be built using triplex and an assortment of craft knives, blades and adhesives would be used in this process. The first frame illustrates this. The challenges faced in this step were creating the bends around the base pf the shoe which was then solves using a technique called “scoring”. After the base of the shoe was built this allowed for the rest of the basic silhouette to be built around the shoe this was done with little to no challenge as bends were not as prominent in this part of the shoe. After this the main panels were built and this only left room for detailing.
Activity 2: Half Model Shoe
The half model shoe was a sectional view of the shoe where we haad to cut it in half and imagine the structure of the shoe on the inside. building the half shoe was a challenge as the half often resulted in the shoe having less structural integrity and everything had to be reinforced. The build started with a full sole and was built up using the same panels and cutouts from the first triplex project
