TRIPLEX SHOES

BRIEF
For our first project, we were tasked with creating a 1:1 replica of any shoe of our choosing. The shoe I chose is Converse's All Star, in a low style configuration. The replica was to be made from Triplex board. Every detail was to be captured.
THE SHOE
The shoe I chose was the Converse All-Star II Low, UK Size 6.
CREATION PROCESS
This is my second attempt at making this show and I've learned a lot of lessons. Project planning was one of them. I thought about the steps I wanted to take when creating the shoe and massively simplified the production process.

I cut every piece I needed at first and made cuts in the triplex to make it easier to bend. I used a more pliable glue, Bostick Clear Gel.
FINAL REPLICA PROTOTYPE
The final prototype uses a simpler production method and less layering to preserve important details such as size and proportion. A greater use of in-cuts on the triplex board made the board itself more malleable and made it easier to bend and helps achieve a more realistic look.
2. Half Shoe
The half shoe, or the cross sectional shoe, is what the shoe would look like if cut in half. It was also to be made from Triplex. This shoe presented a range of unique problems, including issues with structrual stability, Reducing the complexity of certain parts, such as the sole and also sacrificing certain details for a cleaner look helped.
