Triplex Model Shoe

TRIPLEX MODEL SHOE
I have been tasked to create an exact replica model of a shoe using triplex board. The model should be to a scale of 1:1 and should only be made of white triplex board and glue. No other materials may be used. The model must show as much detail as possible and should look as similar to your reference shoe as possible. We may only use a sneaker or a shoe of a similar complexity. We were given 1 week to complete the project.

Activity 1: Full Model Shoe

When thinking of how I could build the shoe, I decided to mimic how it would be done in the factory, piece by piece. I traced each individual piece with masking tape to ensure I got the correct shape and size. Once all of the pieces were cut out I slowly started to piece them together resulting in the final shoe. I ran into a few small problems, such as, the triplex not bending very easily, and the glue taking very long to dry. I used Bostic all purpose glue, where I should have used super glue. I also used a craft knife and a detail knife which were very useful.
TRIPLEX MODEL HALF SHOE
The next step is to create a half shoe made of triplex with a scale of 1 to 1. The model may only be made of triplex and glue, and should show the inside of the shoe. the model shoe should be cut exactly in half and as much detail must be shown as possible. We were given one week to complete the project.
ACTIVITY 2 : HALF MODEL SHOE
Creating this half shoe was much easier than creating the fell shoe as I was not using as much material, and I learnt from my mistakes when making the full shoe. I was able to glue the triplex much easier because there was not as much pressure pulling on the other half of the shoe. This also meant that I could bend the triplex into much tighter bends. Some challenges were that the triplex pieces that I traced and cut out did not perfectly line up to make the shoe a perfect half.
ACTIVITY 3 : MODEL SHOE IMPRINT
For activity 3 we were tasked to create and imprint of our chosen shoe out of triplex. The imprint should be to a scale of 1 to 1 and may only be made of triplex and glue. The imprint of the shoe should be surrounded by a box made of triplex. It would be preferable if the original shoe could fit into the imprint. We were given one week to complete the task.
It was very challenging to try and create an imprint of a shoe because you basically have to think backwards. Instead of creating the shoe you are creating the negative space. It is very hard and confusing way to think. Unfortunately I did not complete this project and ran out of time but I will complete it in the future.
