In my free time, I've been working on more personal pieces because a significant portion of my work is under NDA, and I've felt the need to update my portfolio. In line with this idea, I decided to revisit an image I created around 2019, back when I was just starting to learn 3D and blending techniques more solidly.
The scene revolves around a character I have, a detective who investigates supernatural crimes, and it's part of one of my horror tales, something I've loved writing since I was young. It's quite interesting to think about how one thing relates to another; today, I can combine both my loves - writing and concept art.
I was really pleased with the result of this new piece, not only in terms of how I've improved my image finishing but also in how I've learned to use light to my advantage. Most importantly, I've learned to control the information in the scene. Even though I've added a lot of storytelling elements for viewers who want to spend time examining the image closely, they don't steal the focus or leave the scene feeling overwhelming.
Like every artist, I have a lot more room for growth in various aspects, but I'm enjoying this moment and finding happiness in my own progress. I hope you like it too!!
