This project is a wall poster, 26 x 34 inches. I first got the idea from listening to a song by Two Steps From Hell called Eldorado, go figure. While listening to the song (which is an orchestra song) I zoned in on one particular part of the song. There is a build up of mainly string instruments followed by a "drop" (as EDM listeners call it), which adds big heavy drums and what appears to be some larger brass instruments. In my mind, this is the exact part of the song that I envisioned for the poster. The feeling of being at the end of a long and tiring journey, at the top of a large staircase, and looking out to see a massive ruined temple with gold upon gold piled up high, with the sun poking through glistening off the gold.

To start things off, I am not very good at creating people whether it be by Illustrator or pencil and paper. So I went and found some pieces for reference, as seen below.
The image below is an outline of the temple, the pillar, and the adventurer.
I went through and applied color to everything. For most pieces I used the mask tool in Photoshop to apply a texture I made with various colors and gradients as seen in the adventures coat, the close-up pillar, and the vines on said pillar.
But it wasn't enough. It needed more detail. It needed something to make it pop out a bit. Something that would make the viewer get lost within the poster and really take it all in. Something that makes you ask yourself, where is my city of gold? Where is My El Dorado?
Actual poster sitting up right on my entryway bench. (Below)
