The Dog Collar
I made this project because I wanted to try to learn how to sew something that is more complicated, but still relatively simple. I also love animals and was wanting to incorporate them into this project as well. So I thought a dog collar would be the perfect thing to make for this project. The dog collar is for large dogs, and it is adjustable to make sure that it fits your pet best. I was excited to make this because I got to learn a new skill, and I am able to give the collars that I made to my mom so she can use them on our family dog.
The first step to this project was to cut out fabric to wrap nylon with. I cut it about 35 inches long and 3 1/4 inches wide. I then ironed the fabric and created folds that I was able to easily slide the nylon into. Then I clipped the fabric and nylon together using clothes pins.
Then I moved to the sewing machine and sewed the fabric to the nylon on both sides, the left and right. Next, I put an adjustment piece on to make the collar adjustable with the buckle. Then I sewed those into place and attached the D-ring. Which completed the collar.
