"Take the Field" eSport Intro
This is a personal project, born from a concept of mine that I proposed for a pitch.
Unfortunately it didn't hit the target, but I had worked a lot on it and I liked the style too much, so I decided not to abandon it and I used part of the material and my spare time to create an opening for an fictional esports tournament, related to a football videogame.
You can find in this page a link to download my onw shaders for Cinema 4D and Octane Render that I built for this project.
Enjoy =D
Inspirations and moodboard
My suggestions come from Tron Uprising (character design by Robert Valley), Yuki 7 by Chromosphere Studio, Spiderman into the Spider-Verse (of course), the Netflix's Arkane opening title and Cub Studio's videos.
Design and development
I used IKmax for Cinema 4D to rig my 3D model
I designed the 3D model of the football player in Cinema 4D, and tested some positions in a stadium mockup to test the concept: the player as a giant god in the arena.
Early tests are rendered with the Cinema 4D's Sketch and Toon set up + a lot of After Effects post production, to create something like a "Spider-verse" visual style.
After this step, I tried the Octane Render's toon shader, but I was still dissatisfied with the output.
So, I studied a little bit of "half-tone" shader tutorials on YouTube, then I crafted my materials in Octane Render and a new 3D stadium, to have a strong environment.
Here a fast how-to on my shader.
You can download my own materials for Cinema 4D and Octane Render to test or use in free or commercial projects.
Better if you quote my credits :)
I'm not a pro 3D artist and my risults is very rough, but I had a hard time gathering resources and tutorials on this kind of material, so I hope this will be usefull for you.

I used Deep Glow and m's Halftone for After Effects to texturize the lights and some backgrounds (they are available on aescripts.com)
