“ I want to see with eyes unclouded by hate.”
— Ashitaka/ Princess Mononoke

Over time, the human industrial revolution, technological innovation, and the intersection of human morality and nature have been at odds. The animated film "Princess Mononoke" by Miyazaki Hayao further underscores these contradictions. It vividly portrays the struggle for environmental conservation and the quest for the true essence of life.

In this illustration, I have depicted the creatures metaphorically representing the gods of life in the animation. The firearms symbolize the human industrial revolution and technological innovation, while the protagonist Ashitaka's sword aims to stop the impacts of human greed and industrialization. San's necklace entwined around the sword wielded represents the entanglement of emotions. However, I believe that after the chaos ends, whether humanity abandons human morality due to technological innovation and ultimately faces destruction, life will eventually be reborn after all the madness subsides.

Recently, the U.S. Pentagon collaborated with Open AI. A government engaged in multiple battlefields and proxy wars. The tech company, entangled in various lawsuits, prioritizes serving elite financial corporations over upholding human moral values. This collaboration raises the possibility of a real-life science fiction disaster movie unfolding in the future.

Princess Mononoke has been re-released in cinemas across Taiwan, and it's my favorite animated film by Hayao Miyazaki ❤️.
