My wife and I started this brand in 2008 as a small family business.

 

This project launched "HonestEngine", because we built a custom ecommerce system on top of Ruby on Rails just for this store. Brad Ediger and then Jeremy Weathers were a big part of that.

 

As we got running, we realized the beneftis of having a local storefront too, so it became a hybrid business in a variety of forms. I did all the design and branding work, retail remodeling and construction, and some product design as well. The animal and floral illustrations are done by the talented Mar Cruz.

 

With my background in construction from working with my dad in high school, we took on a big project. I designed a store, and then gutted and rebuilt a 2,000 sq ft building in our old downtown. I designed and built all the furnishings, and signage.

 

This was actually store layout #3 in less than a year, as our needs continued to shift and grow.
