Photo Diary: January 9th - 15th
When taking pictures for my photo diary, my main focus wasn't composition techniques at first. It was mainly me coming by or seeing things I thought would make a good picture. I find my mind is always creatively thinking, wherever I go I take a mental image or a real one and I find the beauty and fascination of something or someone. Im taking pictures on my phone constantly everyday, even when it's not an assignment.
The Traveler
Tuesday, January 9th

This was taken on the first day of the assignment. I was walking around campus shooting so I could come back and present some Iphone pictures to my classmates. I was on the walkway bridge when I saw this man walking across the road. I cropped him off to the right side a little so it was a proper rule of thirds picture.
Asylum
Wednesday, January 10th

This is a picture taken on day two, outside in my hallway. I was leaving my room to do laundry that evening when I saw the lights were really dim. I decided to take a photo since the lights lead to the end of the hall (Leading lines) to the two chairs framed by the doorway. The reason I named this photo "asylum" Is simply because it just gave off that eerie vibe.
Perched next to you
Thursday, January 11th

I was getting ready for class when I saw two crows sitting on a tree branch outside my window. I quickly rushed to get my phone and zoomed in so the branch looked like a frame. I made the photo black and white because where there was so much colour in the building behind it would have taken the distraction away from the crows.
In her element
Friday, January 12th

This was taken during our capture two class, you see Becca fixing her eggs for her shoot. I was looking around to see if there was anything interesting to take photos of and then I saw Becca! She was in the perfect spot so this picture had the rule of thirds.

Going home
Saturday, January 13th

I was going for a walk and I looked up and saw all the geese flying above me. I quickly got my phone out and took photos of them. It wasn't until I looked at it later and saw the leading line the geese were making.

Green companion
Sunday, January 14th

I wanted to find something with texture, and my mind kept going blank on ideas until I looked to my right and saw the snake plant on my desk. I just zoomed in and focused on the details and the small lines on the stems.
My way through the dark
Monday, January 15th

This was taken on the final night of this photo diary. I felt like I was running out of ideas. I looked all around my home and still couldn't find any inspiration, I sat at my desk thinking of something. So, I took my lighter, lit it and was playing around with the grid on my phone. To take this final image I positioned my hand in the middle of the frames and turned down the brightness upped the saturation and this was the final result using the negative space around me to create this image.
                                   My Takeaway
I wouldn't say that the assignment was particularly challenging for me, but I did have a bit of trouble remembering to take a photo every day. In order to help me remember, I made reminders. I had a great time pushing myself to be more conscious of my surroundings with this assignment.
