Macbeth - William Shakespeare (Book design and Illustrations - 3rd year semester project)
I'm happy to post one of my favourite semester works in National Academy of Arts, Sofia during my 3rd year - the play "Macbeth" by Shakespeare with book cover designs, Vorsatz, Nachsatz, Illustrations and the layout of all pages. The handwritten phrases - inspired by the Cancellaresca font used in Shakespeare's era 15th century - placed in spreads and on the cover are selected quotes from the play. It took me 2 whole sketchbooks, filled with handwriting experiments, until I got the look of the letters right.
The illustrations I drew with black markers and fine liners - which was so much fun for me. I believe I found my favorite style of sketching and illustrating light and shadow. The clear vision I had about the whole project came to life from my designs and drawings, which I was so passionate about the whole time and did not give up until I saw what i imagined as the end product.
